Fred's Position on Energy

turbnesWe need smart, common sense energy policies that will effectively help every American by containing rising costs and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil while taking advantage of abundant resources and new technologies available in North America.

Cap and Trade is bad for America because its need is questionable and unproven.  It is a unilateral solution to a global problem.  By President Obama’s own admission, Cap and Trade will cause electricity rates to skyrocket, and devastate our coal mining industry, thereby wasting our most abundant energy resource.  EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson has confirmed that, despite the high costs to citizens and businesses, Cap and Trade will have no effect on climate change.

Fred's Position on Healthcare Reform

fred_healthcareThe U.S. healthcare system needs to be repaired, not torn down and rebuilt.  Healthcare decisions and conversations should remain between the patient and the doctor.

Healthcare spending equals one sixth of the U.S. economy.  Medicare, Medicaid, the Post Office and Amtrak are all run or funded by the federal government.  All are on the verge of bankruptcy!   How can we trust the Congress to efficiently legislate and run healthcare when they are failing at other tasks involving the public’s money?

Fred's Position on Federal Spending/Deficit

treasuryWe need to use common sense when making spending decisions for the American people.  But Congress is not!

  • Congress passed TARP – the Toxic Asset Relief Plan, which authorizes the purchase or guarantee of up to $700 Billion in subprime mortgages and their derivatives.  But the funds have been used for just about everything except the purchase of these troubled assets! Bank bailouts, loans to GM and Chrysler and reviving consumer lending have all been funded through this bill despite the fact that these uses were never originally authorized or intended.
  • Congress passed a $787 billion stimulus plan without reading it!  We were told it needed to be passed overnight, yet eight months later only 14% of the funds have been dispersed.  It is now obvious that the false urgency to pass this bill had much more to do with avoiding a review of its contents and much less to do with rescuing the economy.
  • The economy is recovering even though only 14% of the stimulus plan has been spent.  Why spend the rest?
  • Federal Spending is out of control.  The national debt has been quadrupled in less than a year…from $1 trillion to $4 trillion!
  • Our government is printing the money it is spending. Monetizing the deficit this way could very easily lead to hyperinflation and loss of confidence in the U.S. in credit markets.

Fred's Position on Immigration

immigrationDue to the growing economic crisis affected by illegal immigration, it is essential to the Security and Economic recovery of the United States that we clearly define and enforce Immigration laws and policies.

America has a long history of welcoming diverse peoples who have positively contributed to our nation’s core values and cultural fabric.  One of those values that has made the United States the most desirable place to immigrate to is that its laws are equally and fairly applied to all United States Citizens and legal residents.

However, years of inaction and misguided amnesty polices have lead to an illegal immigration crisis in America. It is apparent that each granting of amnesty for illegal immigrants is followed by further growth of the illegal population hoping for another amnesty.

Fred's Position on the Second Amendment

As a gun owner, shooter, hunter and Life Member of the NRA, I support the constitutional right of law abiding citizens to own and bear arms.  Existing gun laws need to be strictly enforced in programs like Richmond Virginia's Project Exile and our own Wilmington, Delaware program, FED-UP.

My defense of the Second Amendment is long-standing. Attached below is an image of a Delaware Voice article which I wrote in November 2002.
